Forecaster columnist and Tyler Technologies contracts specialist, grew up in Falmouth, Maine.  Diaz moved away for college, attending Georgetown University in Washington D.C.  She then went on to graduate with a degree from Cornell Law School.  Diaz told Stevoe that getting a law degree seemed natural after earning her undergrad degree.  Upon graduating Magna Cum Laude from Cornell, Diaz worked as a law clerk in a federal court for Judge Maryanne Trump Barry, in Newark, New Jersey.  She was also an associate and a partner of the law firm, Kirkland & Ellis.

Diaz moved back to Maine a few years ago and began work as a Contract Specialist at Tyler Technologies, Inc.  At Tyler she uses her expertise as a lawyer and negotiates software and professional services contracts with municipalities across the U.S. and Canada.

Diaz is also a columnist for The Forecaster.  Diaz told Stevoe how when she moved back to Maine she wanted to expand the reach of her blog and went to The Forecaster.  She was offered a one-time column, a hit-or-miss chance to make it.  She now writes bi-weekly columns, titled “Abby’s Road”, that reflect on the highs and lows of raising a family in southern Maine.   One of her most recent commentaries, “Get ready to receive, because I’m ready to serve” is a tongue-in-cheek article about running for office.  She also writes a blog called “What’s Left Over”, where she shares her opinions and her sarcasm.

As to the subject of politics, Diaz considers herself a casual but frustrated observer.  She doesn’t participate in politics in any formal capacity, but she does try to generally stay abreast of current events and she has strong opinions on most of them.
