Jim Bouchard

Speaker and author Jim Bouchard shares his philosophy of “Black Belt Mindset”
through media appearances, books and speaking engagements. Discovering
karate at age 25 helped Bouchard overcome personal challenges that included a
cycle of self-destructive behavior, drugs and alcohol.

His book, “Think Like a Black Belt” lays the foundation for success by examining
the values and characteristics essential to the process of personal growth
including discipline, focus, confidence and courage. Spencer Hughes, host of
FOX across America called it “A much needed roundhouse kick to laziness and
complacency for those of us who need that spark to make our dreams come
true.”

Martial arts became both the binding force and the transformational energy in his
life. Bouchard became a full-time instructor and entrepreneur, opening his own
center soon after earning his first black belt in 1991. Jim later founded Northern
Chi Martial Arts Center, became a Master Instructor with Cane Masters,
International, created the Beifang Qi Taiji Cane system, was twice featured in
Inside Kung Fu magazine, and was inducted into the US Martial Arts Hall of
Fame as Master Instructor of the Year.

For Bouchard, martial arts became a way to use discipline, focus and self motivation
to shape personal success and happiness. “It’s a matter of developing a life of practice and committing yourself to continual self improvement. Just like earning a black belt; simple, not always easy,” he says.
