Don Gooding received his B.A. from Yale University cum laude with distinction in Economics in 1981, concentrating on the economics of data transmission.\u00a0 Gooding moved to Maine in 1996 to pursue his dream of creating a worldwide source for a cappella music, based out of Southwest Harbor.<\/p>\n

The Maine Center for Entrepreneurial Development<\/a> strives to advise entrepreneurs and foster innovation in the state of Maine. Through programs MCED assists, educates, and connects entrepreneurs throughout the state.\u00a0 Their most popular program \u201cTop Gun\u201d is an accelerated, 16-week, customized platform to match entrepreneurs with mentors.\u00a0 This relationship will allow the entrepreneur to develop their business plan and decrease the risk in building their startup.<\/p>\n

Since the Top Gun\u2019s start in 2009, the program has graduated 64 entrepreneurs, most of which are still in business.<\/p>\n

Gooding is the Vice Chair of Maine Angels, a group of Maine investors whose goal is to invest in and mentor Maine start-ups and entrepreneurs.\u00a0 Gooding has invested in early stage technology companies, including Ocean Renewable Power Company, Emergent Music, Axon Labs, Neuroptix and IW Financial. Gooding\u2019s most successful \u201cangel\u201d investment to date was backing his longtime friend Jay Borden in Granite Systems, a New Hampshire software firm serving telecom carriers, for which he was the first outside director.<\/p>\n
