James Page is the first Chancellor of the University of Maine<\/a> System who was born in Maine and to have been educated at one of the system\u2019s universities.\u00a0 Page earned his bachelor\u2019s degree in history at the University of Maine at Fort Kent and his doctorate in philosophy at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.<\/p>\n

Prior to becoming Chancellor, Page was principal and CEO of the James W. Sewall Company, a national consulting organization founded in 1880 and headquartered in Old Town, Maine, specializing in forestry, natural resources, civil and spatial engineering.<\/p>\n

It was in February 2012 that adjunct associate philosophy professor at UMaine James Page would be appointed as Chancellor of the UMaine system.\u00a0 Page began his position as Chancellor of the System on March 20, 2012.\u00a0 Page\u2019s plans for the System are to make it \u201cmore aligned, more nimble, more innovative and more accountable.\u201d<\/p>\n

Page lives in Old Town, with his wife Liane Judd. Page obtained a bachelor\u2019s degree in history at the University of Maine at Fort Kent, attended Harvard University, obtained a master\u2019s degree in philosophy from St. Andrews University in Scotland, and received a doctoral degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.<\/p>\n

Established in 1968, the University of Maine System is the state\u2019s largest educational enterprise. It has an annual enrollment of nearly 41,000 students and serves over 500,000 individuals annually through educational and cultural offerings. Two-thirds of its alumni\u2014approximately 120,000 people\u2014live in Maine. The University of Maine System features seven universities\u2014some with multiple campuses\u2014located across the state, as well as nine University College outreach centers, a law school, and an additional 75 interactive distance learning sites.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
