Maine Mystery Author & Former President of Westbrook College William Andrews<\/a> was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania.\u00a0 He earned a Bachelor\u2019s in English from the University of Pittsburgh.\u00a0 He went on to earn a Ph.D. in American Civilization from the University of Pennsylvania, and an MBA from Penn’s Wharton School.<\/p>\n

Andrews then had a brief period in Ohio, and then lived near Philadelphia, as Dean of Academic Affairs for Philadelphia College of Textiles & Science (now Philadelphia University) before moving to Maine in 1987.\u00a0 Andrews explained to Stevoe that during his experience in administrative positions in the field of education, fund raising was the\u00a0majority of his role.\u00a0 He further explained that he thoroughly enjoyed this though because it is easy to ask for money when you believe in the cause.<\/p>\n

From 1987-1996, Andrews served as President of Westbrook College (now the University of New England).\u00a0 In 1997, he was elected President Emeritus.\u00a0 With the merger of Westbrook College and the University of New England, Andrews was freed him to pursue a lifelong interest in writing.<\/p>\n

In 2006, Andrews published his first mystery novel titled \u201cStealing History\u201d.\u00a0 Then in 2011, his second novel in the Julie Williamson mystery series \u201cBreaking Ground\u201d was published.\u00a0 Andrews and Stevoe discussed what led to the Julie Williamson series and why he chose to write mystery novels and that the third book in the series will be published soon.<\/p>\n

In 2011, Andrews wrote an opt-ed piece <\/a>for the Portland Press Herald about the importance of supporting local bookstores.\u00a0 Andrews has also published three textbooks on management communication.<\/p>\n

Andrews divides his time now between Newry and\u00a0Portland.\u00a0 When he isn\u2019t writing, he reads, skis, snowshoes, cooks, plays tennis, and observes rural life and local characters.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
