University of Southern Maine Associate Professor of Marketing Bob Heiser
was in the studio with TideSmart Talk with Stevoe host Steve Woods and the two talked about the research Heiser has conducted on the importance of nonverbal communication in the sales process. Heiser also discussed one of his hobbies as an amateur radio licensed advanced class radio operator, KE1MH, and how he bounces signals off from the moon to talk to people around the world.
Robert “Bob” Heiser attended the College of the Arts at St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. Here Heiser earned a Bachelor’s in both English and in Chemistry. After working in the field for many years, Heiser decided to go back to school. In 2001, Heiser attended New Mexico State University and earned his Ph.D. in Marketing.
As of 2005, Heiser has been an Associate Professor of Marketing at the University of Southern Maine. The scope of his curriculum goes from teaching marketing management, marketing metrics, international marketing, and multivariate statistics to both graduate and undergraduate students.
Heiser’s research interests include advertising, branding and professional selling. He has published in journals including the Journal of Advertising, The Journal of Marketing Theory & Practice, Sport Marketing Quarterly and Academy of Marketing Science Review.
Prior to his academic career, he worked for nineteen years in sales and marketing at Dover, Emerson Electric and Ball Corporations, and at a technology startup.
Heiser is an active member of the American Marketing Association, Marketing Education Association and the Society for Marketing Advances.
In Heiser’s free time, you will find him spending time with his wife Lesley, enjoying outdoor activities together, such as hiking, bicycling, and snowshoeing.
